Factory authorized service centers are required to invest in the service tools, test equipment, computer interfaces and software specific to each brand necessary to effectively service modern electronics. Without proper equipment, a technician may be unable to repair your equipment, and may even damage it further.

When passed they are issued a license which needs to be kept current by receiving training credits from manufacturers' courses. It is similar to ASE Certification in the auto service industry.
